At Bilston Church of England Primary School we aim to provide a stimulating, secure and happy environment, where everyone aspires to excellence and our children can achieve their full personal potential in all they do regardless of ability. Children’s needs are met through quality teaching; however for some children there are occasions when further support may be required to help them achieve their full potential and targets. This is where support from the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team can be provided within school, the local authority and procedures and guidance from the government.

There have been major changes within Special Educational Needs in 2013-14, including the Children and Families Bill 2013 and New Code of Practice 2014. The Government is transforming the system for children and young people with SEND, including those who are disabled, so that services consistently support the best outcomes for them. Due to the changes local authorities are required to publish a ‘local offer’ (Information Reports) of support. Further information on SEND Updates can be located on the Wolverhampton City Council website and Wolverhampton Information, Advice and Support Service Website (formerly known as Wolverhampton Parent Partnership).

Wolverhampton City Council have a framework that will allow the Local Offer to provide parents/carers with information about how to access services in their area, and what they can expect from those services. It will inform parents/carers and young people how educational settings will support them, and what they can expect across the local setting. Below are answers to Frequently Asked Questions regarding SEND by parents/carers and young people.

Our SEND Statement and Frequently Asked Questions regarding SEND by parents/carers and young people can be found under the 'Useful Information' section on the left navigation.

The Wolverhampton Local Offer sets out all services available to support children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, from birth to 25 years, and their families.
