Free MMR catch-up clinic being run for pupils at Aldersley Leisure Village

Measles is an infectious disease which spreads very easily and can sometimes cause serious complications such as meningitis, pneumonia, blindness and seizures. Measles has re-emerged in England in recent years, with many outbreaks linked to nurseries and schools.

The best way to prevent measles infection is to have the MMR vaccination. Two doses provide long-term protection. The MMR vaccine also provides protection against mumps and rubella.

Wolverhampton’s School Aged Immunisation Service, Vaccination UK, are running a one-off catch-up clinic for children in school years 1-11 that have missed one or both doses of the MMR vaccine. The clinic is free and will take place at Aldersley Leisure Village on Friday 10^th April between 9:30am and 1:30pm. To book an appointment, please call 01902 200 077. Walk-in appointments are also available.

Alternatively, anyone born before 31 December 2019 who has missed one or both doses of MMR can get a catch-up vaccination for free at their GP practice.
