Exploring Plant Lifecycles in Science
This term in Science, Year 2 have been learning about different plant lifecycles and observing how seeds grow and change over time. Today, the children used real plants and seeds to observe each stage first‑hand. They carefully examined and described every part of the lifecycle — from seed, to germination, to seedling, and finally to a mature plant. Investigation for the Best Materials in D & T
In D & T, Year 2 explored a range of materials to discover which would be most suitable for making a kite. The children tested each material for strength, how easily it could tear, and whether it was waterproof. Through hands‑on investigation and thoughtful discussion, they were able to compare the properties of different materials and make informed conclusions about which ones would work best. Year 2 Carp Kites
Today, Year 2 learned about the tradition and design of carp kites before creating their own vibrant versions in class. After crafting and decorating their kites, the children headed outside to test them in the wind — an exciting part of the process! They finished the session by evaluating their designs, reflecting on what worked well and what they might improve next time. It was a wonderful blend of creativity, hands‑on learning, and outdoor fun.
